City of Ghost, 2007-2009, baby powder, wood construction, fabric, bulb, map, plexiglass case, dimension variable.

City of Ghost tackles the issue of living in the big ever expand city under the umbrella of globalization. Artist captures the essence on the verge of breakdown through exceptionally fragile raised city maps made of baby powder. Producing these cartographic sculptures by pouring baby powder over street maps (comprising the cityscape of thirteen metropolitan cities ; Bangkok, Manila, Taiwan, Busan, Tokyo, Beijing, Venice, Rome, London, Paris, New York, San Francisco including Singapore) from which all the building have been neatly cut out.City of Ghost stuns its viewers as what initially looks like a mess of white powder is revealed, on closer inspection, to be a delicately but fragility raised map.

….In the age of Post Colonialism or globalization, the term "nationalism" seems to be focused as the issue in any context. Since my childhood till the last coup d'état in Thailand (Sept 19, 2006), the patriotic song was one powerful and influential tool of propaganda in its context. With the massages of those songs, the way of singing and the frequency of listening, although the fact that time has passed by, it’s have been already buried deep in our memory and never dissolve.…Déjà vu created from more than 20 of Thai patriotic songs I collected. I typed and arranged all text of those songs together (without space in between the word), enlarge them with the photocopy then drill little hole for each letter by the puncher (similar to the process of cutting the map in “City of Ghost”) on this paper. This drilled paper was used as “stencil block”. I sprinkled baby powder through these holes onto the stage (wood construction, covered by cloth sheet) to create the monumental text work which is fragility and hard to read.
…I wanted to create the fragile monumental installation to remind and question people in the social political situation, confusion of the aim of life and the idea of nationalism under the umbrella of post colonialism and globalization era.
